Clean Slate® Snap-In
Improve the Microsoft Shared Computer Toolkit
The Clean Slate Snap-in for the Microsoft Shared Computer Toolkit (SCT) has been discontinued.
Clean Slate is a valuable replacement that offers more benefits than the Clean Slate Snap-in for the same price. Clean Slate is used to replace the disk protection offered in the Microsoft SCT.
Advantages of using Clean Slate instead of the Microsoft SCT disk protection:
- Offers the same benefits of the Microsoft SCT plus more
- Clears changes at log off as well as reboot
- Downtime is never required for Windows Critical Updates; allows updates automatically while security is active. The complicated scripting, scheduling of downtime, and leaving computers on overnight required by the toolkit are not necessary.
- Does not require special partitioning which can be cumbersome and time consuming
- Security can be configured, disabled, and enabled without rebooting
- Allows antivirus signature updates to run normally while security is active. The complicated scripting, scheduling of downtime, and leaving computers on overnight required by the toolkit are not necessary.
- Easily allows special applications to make permanent changes to disk or registry.
- Allows particular registry keys and files to be modified by a particular application, or user, or by everyone.
To use Clean Slate with the Microsoft Shared Computer Toolkit, simply disable the SCT disk protection and install Clean Slate. Learn more about Clean Slate disk protection.
